Post-Workshop Activities > Manuscript Submission

Instructions for Submission of Full Manuscripts to Special Issues

Each author who presented an oral or poster presentation at the Workshop on Agricultural Air Quality is eligible to submit a full manuscript to a special issue of a peer-reviewed international journal.

In response to many requests, the deadline for manuscripts has been extended. Please submit your manuscript electronically to the Air Quality Workshop Manager by 5 PM, EDT, August 1, 2006 (see instructions below). Workshop organizers will collect all submitted manuscripts and will submit the manuscripts to the journals, each of which will focus on a particular theme associated with the workshop.

Below, we list the journals that will produce special issues on topics relevant to the Workshop, along with information about page charges where applicable. If you decide to submit a manuscript to one of these journals for a special issue, please understand that your manuscript will undergo the journal's normal peer-review process. Acceptance and publication of your paper for a special issue is not guaranteed, any more than it would be if you submitted your paper to the journal outside of a special issue.

Journals—and page charges, if any—include:

*Note: In addition to page charges indicated below, please be aware that the use of color in graphics will incur an additional charge.

To submit a manuscript for one of the special issues, please do the following:

1. Decide to which of the above journals you would like to submit your manuscript. Please remember that you will need to pay page charges for some journals, as noted above.

2. Find the submission guidelines for your preferred journal (see web addresses provided above) and format your manuscript so that it conforms to the requirements of that journal.

3. In addition to any other formatting guidelines required by the journal, please ensure that your manuscript is no longer than 25 pages (1.5 line spacing) including figures, tables, and references.

4. Please also include a cover sheet as part of the Word document (in addition to any cover letter that may be required by the journal) that includes the following information: (1) name, email, and phone number of the author to whom correspondence from the journal and Workshop organizers should be sent, (2) your first and second choice of journal, and (3) the names, addresses, and email addresses of five potential reviewers for your manuscript. You must include this information as part of the cover sheet in the Word document, not simply in the email message, which will not be saved.

5. Send your manuscript—correctly formatted according to the journal's instructions (and no longer than 25 pages) with the cover sheet described above—electronically as a Word document attachment to Bette Stallman, Air Quality Workshop Manager: bette@esa.org. Please make sure that your manuscript is FINAL when you submit it. We will NOT accept late papers and we will NOT accept late revisions of papers already submitted.

Viney Aneja, Workshop Co-Chair, is serving as guest editor of each of these special issues and will make the final decision regarding the journal to which each manuscript will be submitted. Dr. Aneja will communicate this decision to you.
