SEEDS Update                          

During the month of April, SEEDS Chapters are celebrating the local biological diversity in their communities by doing biological inventories over periods of time ranging from a four to 24 hour period.  The SEEDS NCCB is working with iNaturalist to upload Bioblitz data and coordinate the events into one national project.

The following eleven Chapters will be participating in the 2012 SEEDS National Coordinated Chapter Bioblitz (NCCB):

Universidad Metropolitana

Florida Atlantic University

University of Puerto Rico at Bayamon

Iowa State University

University of Puerto Rico at Humacao

From ESA’s Issues on Ecology (Issue 1), this report discusses how humans have altered the nitrogen cycle and the adverse effects this has on the ecosystem.

Excess Nitrogen in the U.S. Environment: Trends, Risks, and Solutions
From ESA’s Issues on Ecology (Issue 15), this report published 15 years after the former reflects on nitrogen levels in the US and projections for environmental impact with the continuance of the current trend.

Phenology 2012 Conference on September 10-13, 2012 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  USA National Phenology Network is accepting applications for graduate and undergraduate student presenters.  Application and abstract submissions due by May 15.

 

National Environmental Education Week wants your photos and stories for the 2012 Environmental Education Photo Blog Contest. Submissions due by May 31.

 

The Association of American Colleges and universities' Bringing Theories to Practice Project is accepting proposals for projects promoting engaged learning, civic development, and psychosocial well-being of college and uiversity students.
