  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL ABSTRACT SUBMITTERS:

In response to a growing member concern about Annual Meeting Program gaps due to cancellations, ESA is instituting a policy meant to minimize this problem. In order to discourage the high number of abstract withdrawals, cancellations and no-shows, every Abstract for an Oral Paper, Poster or Symposium talk presented at the ESA/SER Meeting in Tucson in August, 2002 must be accompanied by a $50 abstract submission fee which will be credited to your meeting registration fee.

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the ESA and SER Program Chairs for this meeting. Payment of this fee does not guarantee acceptance of your paper or poster. However, no abstract will be accepted for presentation without payment of the submission fee. The Abstract submission deadline is Friday, March 1, 2002 on or before 5 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Any abstracts cancelled prior to May 1, 2002 will receive a refund of the submission fee.
Any cancellations received after May 1, 2002 will not receive a refund of the fee.

Assuming that your abstract submission fee has been received and successfully processed, on or before May 1, 2002, the Meeting Program Chairs will notify you whether your abstract has been accepted, rejected or requires revision in order to be accepted. If your abstract submission fee has not been received or for some reason fails to clear the bank, you will be notified by email or telephone between March 1 and April 15, 2002 by ESA headquarters and you will have the opportunity to make alternative arrangements for payment.

In order to track your submission and credit you accurately it is critically important that you use the identical spelling and order of your name, your institution and your address and email address that you use when you submit your abstract and your meeting registration.

Please do not submit either your abstract or your submission form more than once.

Be aware than ESA/SER will accept ONLY ONE paper or poster per primary author. You can be a secondary author for additional papers or posters.

Submitting an abstract does not automatically register you for the meeting. You must also register for the meeting in order to present your paper, poster or symposium talk.

If you have submitted an abstract and have not paid the $50 abstract submission fee, please contact Tricia Crocker at tricia@esa.org before you register for the meeting.

If you are submitting an abstract for the "Late-breaking and Newsworthy" poster session, please register for the meeting and pay the full registration fee. Do not check the box on the registration form indicating that you have already paid a submission fee.
