Corporate and Institutional Sponsorship Opportunities and Benefits

The Ecological Society of America created its SEEDS (Strategies for Ecology Education, Diversity and Sustainability) program in 1996 to diversify the profession of ecology. As of 2008, 80% of the students who have participated in a SEEDS program are either pursuing degrees or careers in ecology and its related fields. ESA is pleased to offer opportunities to corporations who care about nurturing a diverse workforce equipped with ecological knowledge and expertise.

By joining ESA as a SEEDS Corporate Sponsor, you demonstrate your organizational commitment to a more sustainable future with a diverse group of young men and women ready to meet the challenges of a new green economy. We are pleased to offer recognition of your commitment to diversity in ecological stewardship with a range of benefits corresponding to your sponsorship levels:

1. A three-minute Podcast on Careers
Our students are always eager to learn about career opportunities where they can apply their knowledge of the ecological sciences. We will produce a podcast based on an interview with your corporate representative. This is an opportunity for your organization to “speak” to thousands of diverse students.

2. Corporate Ad/Article in SEEDS Newsletters and Updates
The SEEDS quarterly Newsletter is distributed electronically to all members of the 5,000+ SEEDS network which includes current students, faculty and ESA mentors as well as to all the SEEDS campus chapters, currently 80+ strong. Through a corporate ad or 500-word article related to diversity and sustainability, you have the opportunity to communicate your organizational commitment for a sustainable future.

3. Invitation to attend the Annual SEEDS Leadership Meeting
Each year in Winter/Early Spring, SEEDS undergraduate research fellows, chapter leaders, and SEEDS graduate alumni gather for a weekend retreat to reflect on new trends in ecology, the future outlook for graduate studies, and jobs. You are cordially invited to interact with some of the dynamic student leaders in the field of ecology.

4. Frontiers Print Subscription
ESA’s highly regarded journal, Frontiers in Ecology and Environment, is international in scope and interdisciplinary in its coverage. One of the features that sets Frontiers apart from other scientific journals is its accessibility. By making the journal reader-friendly and easy to understand, both across sectors and specialties and at all levels on the career ladder, from students to professors and from resource managers to politicians, Frontiers ensures that ecological knowledge reaches both scientists and decision makers. Only through the sharing of reliable environmental science can sound decisions be made on some of the most pressing issues of our time.

5. Recognition on SEEDS Sponsors webpage
The SEEDS Sponsor site will historically archive your sponsorship with a link to your corporate site and in Dispersal, the SEEDS newsletter
