{"id":14,"date":"2019-03-18T02:18:58","date_gmt":"2019-03-18T02:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esa.org\/2018\/?page_id=14"},"modified":"2019-03-18T02:18:58","modified_gmt":"2019-03-18T02:18:58","slug":"advancing-ecology-education","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.esa.org\/2018\/advancing-ecology-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Advancing Ecology Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the leading organization in the science of ecology, ESA takes a prominent role in supporting ecological education at all levels, from integration within STEM frameworks to supporting curriculum design in programs specific to ecology and environmental science.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, 33\u00a0participants took part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.org\/esa\/education-and-diversity\/reefs\/\">10th Resources for Ecology Education, Fair and Share (REEFS)<\/a> special session at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.org\/2018\/2018-annual-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ESA Annual Meeting<\/a>, which was jointly organized with the Education Section. The Annual Meeting also included three sessions organized to highlight progress on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.org\/4DEE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the 4DEE framework<\/a>,\u00a0which was <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/R2dzAn5KS6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">endorsed by the ESA Governing Board<\/a> in November.<\/p>\n<p>The year also included the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.org\/ldc\">5th Life Discovery \u2013 Doing Science Education conference<\/a>, which drew 31 proposals for short presentations and workshops.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the leading organization in the science of ecology, ESA takes a prominent role in supporting ecological education at all levels, from integration within STEM frameworks to supporting curriculum design in programs specific to ecology and environmental science.
