{"id":131,"date":"2022-03-17T18:14:27","date_gmt":"2022-03-17T18:14:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esa.org\/2021\/?page_id=131"},"modified":"2022-04-18T19:53:00","modified_gmt":"2022-04-18T19:53:00","slug":"disseminating-ecological-knowledge","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/esa.org\/2021\/disseminating-ecological-knowledge\/","title":{"rendered":"Disseminating Ecological Knowledge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group well is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Publishing science is at the heart of what we do as the world\u2019s largest society of ecologists, and not only did we publish an incredible number of articles in 2021, we also saw the effects of that publishing ripple across the scientific and popular media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ecological Knowledge by the Numbers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>165,000<\/strong> views of Issues in Ecology<\/li><li><strong>11.5%<\/strong> ESA journal citations as % of all ecology<\/li><li><strong>158<\/strong> press releases on articles in ESA journals<\/li><li><strong>1,100+<\/strong> articles published in ESA journals<\/li><li><strong>2,266 <\/strong>our highest Alt Metrics score<\/li><li><strong>8<\/strong> 4DEE events at #ESA2021<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All told, <a href=\"https:\/\/esajournals.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">science published by ESA<\/a> resulted in more than <strong>4.75 million views<\/strong> across the world, and papers in our journals resulted in media placements from such top-of-the-line outlets as <em>Discovery<\/em>, National Public Radio and the <em>Washington Post<\/em>, as well as smaller publications and blogs. And our <a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/4dee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Four Dimensional Ecology Education framework<\/a>, endorsed by the Governing Board in 2018, continued to grow in both refinement and adoption, as members visited multiple events at the Annual Meeting to learn how best to apply the framework to their own classrooms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Publishing science is at the heart of what we do as the world\u2019s largest society of ecologists, and not only did we publish an incredible number of articles in 2021, we also saw the effects of that publishing ripple across the scientific and popular media.
