The founder of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.criticalecologylab.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Critical Ecology Lab<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Sue grew up with a strong interest in nature and the environment. But she often felt out of place as a black woman in exclusionary environmentally focused spaces. Her research challenges the status quo in ecological sciences by openly addressing the link between global change and socioeconomic inequality. She uses a strong understanding of biogeochemistry, legacies of injustice, and community engagement to develop research programs that empower marginalized peoples to further understand and adapt to the challenges of climate change.
