A Vision for Ecology

We are in an era of unprecedented environmental change that demands bold and creative science by ecologists to solve or lessen the effects of these environmental problems.

Ecologists must harness existing technological and computational tools, develop new instruments and methods, and stimulate effective cooperation among diverse groups of researchers, managers, and policy makers.

The ecology of the future must explain and predict our shared environment, apply that predictive power to address environmental problems from local to global scales, and increase fundamental knowledge about humans and the natural world.

Accomplishing these visions will require revolutionary changes within the ecological scientific community and in ESA's future agenda.
