Logos are important because they help to identify and distinguish an organization. Effective logos are recognizable, simple, memorable, timeless, and versatile (see 5 principles of good logo design\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/qubeshub.org\/groups\/saber\/File:Principles_of_logo_design.pdf\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/qubeshub.org\/groups\/saber\/File:Principles_of_logo_design.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1566690964034000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFyUvkJILh2qgfR6QedzdkqiJ8lzw\">here<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The winning logo will be used on our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/educationsection\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/esa.org\/educationsection\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1566690964035000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEpikSfFXGQk59Us7SWpBmuGHRy6w\">ESA Ed Section website<\/a>, newsletters, and other \u201cbranding\u201d for our section. The designer will be acknowledged with a small, one-time monetary award and their contribution to our section will be highlighted on our website. The judging panel will be the current ESA\u00a0Education Section officers, and the winning logo will be announced no later than November 15, 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Submissions must meet all criteria outlined below.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Deadline:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Friday October 4 at 11:59 PM<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>How to submit:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>We are accepting digital submissions only. Submit to Jennifer Doherty at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:dohertyjh@gmail.com\">dohertyjh@gmail.com<\/a>. This email will allow you to share via Google Drive if the file is too large to email.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Design criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li>The logo should be original.<\/li>\n<li>The logo should symbolize and represent key characteristics of the ESA Education Section, such as the focus on ecology teaching at all levels and to all students.<\/li>\n<li>The logo can include color, but must retain key design features when printed in black and white.<\/li>\n<li>The logo should be submitted with a brief rationale for the design of the logo (50 to 100 words).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Technical details<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400\">\n<li>Please submit a high-quality digital image, saved as a PNG, TIFF, or JPEG file.
