She completed a post-doc at the University of Toronto (2020-2021) with Dr. Nicholas Mandrak before beginning a post-doc with Dr. Daniel Simberloff at the University of Tennessee Knoxville.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Sara has been an ESA member since 2014 and has broad research interests in community ecology, invasion biology, data science, and biodiversity conservation. Her doctoral and some postdoctoral work has focused on examining patterns of biodiversity in the Great Lakes fish communities, the mechanisms that structure biodiversity, and developing tools to predict invasion success of non-native fish species. Over the years, ESA membership has provided her with resources to assist with improving her teaching and opportunities to keep up with current research.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">When not taking walks or trying as many different restaurants as possible with her husband, Andrea enjoys singing, reading, yoga, jigsaw puzzles knitting and a volunteer treasurer job. They have two children \u2013 one working as a computer engineer, the other in a non-degree post-secondary program.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: Osmary has been an ESA member since 2022, and joined the Great Lakes Chapter in 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Osmary is interested in species response to climate change, thermal physiology, and conservation. Her master\u2019s work focused on studying populations and thermal physiology of a declining tropical salamander. Liane has been an ESA member since 1988, and a member of the Great Lakes Chapter since 2020.\u00a0 She is also a member of the Aquatic Ecology and Natural History sections.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Liane\u2019s research involves the model community of bacteria, protozoans, rotifers, mites, and dipteran larvae that lives in the vase-shaped, rainwater-filled leaves of the carnivorous pitcher plant <em>Sarracenia purpurea<\/em>.\u00a0 She continues to study the interactions between members of the community, and is also studying the population genetics and adaptations of the pitcher plant rotifer <em>Habrotrocha rosa<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">When not hiking across bogs, Liane teaches as an adjunct Professor of Biology at the College of DuPage, in Glen Ellyn, IL, and continues to prepare manuscripts based on numerous faculty-student collaborative research project that she guided at Saint Xavier University.\u00a0 She\u2019s also working on a book based on her <em>Natural History of the Great Lakes Region<\/em> course.\u00a0 When not wearing her science hat, Liane enjoys gardening, playing cello, listening to classical music, especially opera, and reading.\u00a0 She lives with her husband and an undetermined number of fish in four aquariums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chair Sara E.
