In his 1976 history of the Society, Bob Burgess <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/94\/2022\/02\/BurgessHistory.pdf\">summarized ESA\u2019s publication efforts to that date<\/a>. It publishes announcements of meetings, programs, awards, articles, and items of current interest to members.\u00a0\u00a0|\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/history\/history-of-the-esa-bulletin\/\">History and List of Editors<\/a><\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Ecology<\/strong>: Published since 1920, this monthly journal reports on basic elements of ecological research, including research and synthesis papers on all aspects of ecology.\u00a0\u00a0| <a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/history\/history-of-esas-journal-ecology\/\">History and List of Editors<\/a><\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Ecological Applications<\/strong>: This journal began in 1991 in order to highlight applications of ecological science to environmental problems. This journal, consisting of eight issues per year, publishes papers that develop scientific principles to support environmental decision-making. | <a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/history\/ecological-applications\/\">History and List of Editors<\/a><\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Ecological Monographs<\/strong>: Initiated in 1931 to accommodate longer articles, Ecological Monographs, with quarterly issues, ranked 9th out of 195 journals in impact factor for the \u201cEcology\u201d category in 2023. | <a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/history\/ecological-monographs\/\">History and List of Editors<\/a><\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Ecosphere<\/strong>: Published monthly, this is ESA\u2019s fully open-access alternative, launched in 2010.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment:<\/strong> Issued 10 times per year since 2003, Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment contains peer-reviewed, synthetic review articles, and short, high-impact research communications of broad interdisciplinary appeal and features of interest.
