The collection consists of correspondence, reports, and research materials related to the activities of the Ecological Society of America. The records are primarily associated with 43 prominent members of ESA, including Stanley Auerbach, Frank Golley, and others. Please see <a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/history\/archives\/archiving-esa-related-materials\/\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Archiving ESA-related records and materials<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\">\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to ESA\u2019s records, the <strong>Hargrett Library<\/strong> houses some important records related to the history of ESA and of ecology. These include the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.libs.uga.edu\/hargrett\/archives\/uga97-045.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Eugene Odum<\/strong><\/a> and <strong>Frank Golley<\/strong> collections, as well as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/hmfa.libs.uga.edu\/hmfa\/view?docId=ead\/UA97-066-ead.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Institute of Ecology (TIE) archives<\/strong><\/a>, as well as digitized oral histories taken at the time that TIE ended, are at the University of Georgia\u2019s Hargrett Library. See finding aid: http:\/\/hmfa.libs.uga.edu\/hmfa\/view?docId=ead\/UA97-066-ead.xml.<br>The digitized TIE oral histories are also <a href=\"http:\/\/hmfa.libs.uga.edu\/hmfa\/search?keyword=institute+of+ecology+interview&amp;title=&amp;creator=&amp;year=&amp;year-max=&amp;smode=advanced\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available online<\/a>.<br>After clicking on the above link to the finding aid and you will see some general descriptive information for the interview. Often, we find documents relevant to ESA history in those collections, especially for ecologists who have served the organization in some capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because these records are so important to our understanding, HRC is compiling a \u201croad map\u201d to where the papers of prominent ecologists are located; the preliminary version is <a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/history\/archives\/archives-directory\/\"><strong>Archives Directory<\/strong><\/a>.
