We expect these essays will become a significant contribution to ESA\u2019s historical record.<br>\nThe <em>Bulletin <\/em>is ESA\u2019s oldest journal, and the new series will consist of essays that provide the \u201cpersonal viewpoint\u201d of distinguished ecologists on a paper or papers that were particularly important in catalyzing future developments in ecology. Each essay is to focus on paper(s) that have had particular influence on the ideas and approaches to ecology; the essays will be written by ecologists who have contributed significantly to the discipline.<br>\nThe essays for the January issue are:<br>\n<em>Influences on My Research over Sixty-five Years<\/em>, by Eville Gorham, Regent Professor, Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior, University of Minnesota, St. Paul<br>\n<em>Patterns in Nature and Their Causes<\/em>, by Joy Zedler, Professor of Botany and Aldo Leopold Chair in Restoration Ecology University of Wisconsin-Madison<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For ESA\u2019s upcoming centennial in 2015, Bulletin editor Ed Johnson has announced a new series called The Paper Trail (pdf), to be published in the Bulletin beginning with the January issue.
