Just 35 miles north of the Twin Cities, there is no place of comparable beauty and biological diversity so close to the metropolitan area. Since its establishment in 1942, the people of Cedar Creek have been dedicated to understanding our planet’s ecosystems and how they are changing under human pressures. Cedar Creek has been designated as one of the National Science Foundation’s Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites since 1982. Today, it supports the largest number of long-term ecological experiments in the world, including the world’s largest and longest-running experiment on biodiversity.
