This session will explore the connections between ecological research and professional practice in urban environments. Panelists will briefly introduce their work and career paths, followed by a student-led Q&amp;A. Graduate and undergraduate students are especially encouraged to attend and participate in this conversation, which is designed to offer guidance on career pathways and next steps in ecology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mid-Atlantic ESA annual meeting brings together students, researchers, teachers and practitioners from the Mid\u2013Atlantic region and beyond.\u00a0 The meeting offers an excellent opportunity for both undergraduate and graduate ecology students to present their research in all ecology-related topics. If you have not been notified of your abstract acceptance, please email <a href=\"mailto:vbeauchamp@towson.edu\">vbeauchamp@towson.edu<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Oral presentations<\/strong> are 15-minute time slots. Plan for a 12 \u2013 13 minute talk with 2 \u2013 3 minutes for questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The poster boards are <strong>48\u00d748 inches<\/strong>. Please ensure that your poster fits within those dimensions. We recommend no more than <strong>44 inches for either dimension<\/strong>, to leave space for the number tag and improve aesthetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you submitted an abstract but are unable to present at the meeting, please email <a href=\"mailto:vbeauchamp@towson.edu\">vbeauchamp@towson.edu<\/a> ASAP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All presenters and attendees must register for the meeting. The registration cost is $35 per person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"sunday-field-trip-to-soldier-s-delight\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sunday Field Trip to Soldier\u2019s Delight \u2013 SOLD OUT<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Join us on Sunday at 10 AM to walk on a piece of the ocean floor as we tour the Soldier\u2019s Delight Serpentine Barrens. <a href=\"https:\/\/dnr.maryland.gov\/wildlife\/Pages\/NaturalAreas\/Central\/Soldiers-Delight.aspx\">Soldiers Delight Natural Environmental Area<\/a> is the largest remaining serpentine ecosystem in the eastern United States. This unique oak-savanna and grassland ecosystem is 20 miles east of Towson University and is home to over 39 rare, threatened, or endangered plant species, as well as rare insects and unique rocks and minerals. We\u2019ll park at the visitor center and hike a little over 2 miles through several different plant communities.
