These awards target students presenting policy-related posters or talks at the meeting who could not otherwise afford to attend.\u00a0<em><u>Note that simple allusion to potential use of research results for policy is not considered a policy-related paper<\/u><\/em>. The\u00a0submission<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>must show positive\u00a0impact on the formation or execution of public policy or decision making, including research and education that helps bridge the science- policy interface.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"btn alignright\" href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/policy-preprod\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/42\/2018\/11\/ESA-Policy-Section-Travel-Support-Awards-2019.pdf\">Policy Section Travel Support Awards <i class=\"fa fa-file-pdf\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The following two (2) awards will be given:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Best paper (poster\u00a0<u>or<\/u>\u00a0oral presentation) \u2013 undergraduate: $400<\/li>\n<li>Best paper (poster\u00a0<u>or<\/u>\u00a0oral presentation) \u2013 graduate: $400<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eligibility:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must be a member of ESA and the Policy Section.<\/li>\n<li>You must be enrolled as a student (undergraduate, Masters or Ph.D).<\/li>\n<li>You must be in good academic standing (GPA of \u22653.00).<\/li>\n<li>You must attend The Policy Section Special Session (Monday, August 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a02018, 10:15-11:30am) at the annual meeting to receive your award.<\/li>\n<li>Minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Volunteer Policy Section members (sorry, students cannot be judges) will evaluate applications based on submission quality and relevance, professional achievements and demonstrated need. We strongly discourage applicants who have access to funding for the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Submit your application to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:policysection.esa@gmail.com\">policysection.esa@gmail.com<\/a> by 5 pm EST, of July 15th, 2021. The applicant must submit the application package as <u>a single PDF file<\/u>\u00a0named \u201clastname_firstname ESA-Policy travel award 2018\u201d in one email with the subject \u201cESA-Policy travel award 2018\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Application package (single PDF) must include:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Abstract acceptance confirmation<\/li>\n<li>Proof of enrollment in an institution of higher education<\/li>\n<li>Proof of good academic standing (GPA of \u22653.00)<\/li>\n<li>A CV of the applicant<\/li>\n<li>A letter of reference from the student\u2019s advisor or mentor attesting to the student\u2019s need for travel support, mentioning any other sources of funding<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Policy Section Travel Support Awards The Policy Section offers travel support awards to encourage student attendance at the annual ESA meeting.
