We ask that each judge sign up for at least 5 presentations to judge over the course of the meeting.&nbsp;<strong>Instructions will be emailed to all judges <\/strong><strong>in late July<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>including a description of the criteria and links to the online judging forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Papers and posters are judged in five equally weighted categories:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>significance of ideas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>creativity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>quality of methodology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>validity of conclusions drawn from results<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>clarity of presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Some tips to help things go more smoothly<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Students are not eligible to serve as judges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You should not sign up to judge people who would present a conflict of interest for you (e.g., an advisee, member of your research group, close collaborator, personal friends, someone whose thesis committee you serve on, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"860\" height=\"574\" src=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/portland2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/awards.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1943\" srcset=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/portland2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/awards.jpg 860w, https:\/\/esa.org\/portland2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/awards-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/esa.org\/portland2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/awards-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I sign up?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To sign up, email&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:awards@esa.org\">awards@esa.org<\/a>, and a link to the judging schedule will be sent to you starting in June.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Buell and Braun Judges Sign up to be a judge for student presentations!
