Authors retain copyright under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author and source are credited.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ESA Journals are published by John Wiley &amp; Sons, and Wiley\u2019s Open Access option is available to authors who wish to make their article Open Access or whose funding agency or institution requires \u201cGold\u201d or \u201cGreen\u201d Open Access. In addition to Open Access publication via Wiley Online Library, authors of Open Access papers are permitted to post the final, published PDF of their article on a website, institutional repository, and\/or other free public server, immediately upon publication.<\/p>\n<h3>Which ESA Journals offer \u201cOpen Access\u201d?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>All papers in <em>Ecosphere<\/em> and <em>Earth Stewardship<\/em> are published Open Access. The Open Access fee is paid by the author, the author\u2019s funding agency, or the author\u2019s institution. <a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/publications\/our-policies\/publication-fee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Discounts<\/a> are available to ESA members.<\/li>\n<li>In <em>Ecology<\/em>, <em>Ecological Applications<\/em>, <em>Ecological Monographs, <\/em>and<em> Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment<\/em>, publishing as Open Access is optional.
