Co-located with the 3rd Annual Digital Data in Biodiversity Research Conference:
We are pleased to announce that our Spring SBI course will be co-located with the 3rd Annual Digital Data in Biodiversity Research Conference, “Methods, Protocols, and Analytical Tools for Specimen-based Research in the Biological Sciences.” The conference will be held June 10-12, 2019 at Yale University, New Haven, CT. The SBI Course will be held June 12-14, 2019 following the conference.
Registration is now open! All registration will happen through the Digital Data in Biodiversity Research Conference Eventbrite page.
Please note that you may choose to attend just the SBI Course, Digital Data Conference, or both through the registration form. There’s a special rate if you attend both events.
The $849 fee includes all course materials, plus lunches and refreshments during the three course days. The course fee does not include accommodation and other meals, or travel to and from the course. We are also offering our popular colleague discount: bring a colleague from the same project or program and save $200. To access this discount, please contact Emily at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Yale is offering discounted Dormitory Lodging at the Benjamin Franklin College, located at 90 Prospect St, New Haven. This is approximately 0.25 miles from Sage Hall. While a limited number of single rooms exist, most dormitories are suite-style and consists of common room combinations ranging from two, three, or four single or double bedrooms. Each suite common room is furnished with a sofa, chairs, and coffee table and each bedroom is furnished with a twin extra-long bed, desk, desk chair, and dresser or armoire per person. Each suite shares a bathroom, which is in the hallway, with 2-4 neighboring suites. Unless otherwise arranged, individual suites are not cleaned while occupied, but each shared bathroom receives thorough cleaning daily. Please note that, to support Yale’s commitment to being environmentally friendly, paper towels are not provided in shared suite bathrooms; Guests are asked to use the hand towels provided in their linen packs.
Please do not wait until you have a final itinerary to book a room. Room reservations can always be modified, but you will not be eligible for the special rates if you fail to book before the deadline.
Your course fee includes lunches and refreshments on all course days. It does not include travel costs or breakfasts/dinners, so please plan accordingly! There are many restaurant options nearby, and we will likely organize at least 1-2 group dinners – stay tuned.
