Underrepresented minority students are especially encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong> Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>U.S. Citizen<\/li>\n<li>Currently enrolled associate degree, bachelor degree, master degree or Ph.D. program as of Spring 2013; or recent graduates with an associate or bachelor degree after August 2012.<\/li>\n<li>Completed general coursework in related field from an accredited institution, completion of upper level coursework preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Interest in gaining practical skills for utilizing continental scale ecological data for social and policy level decisions<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of GIS or qGIS preferred, but not required.<\/li>\n<li>Able to participate in complete workshop from Sunday, June 2, 2013 \u2013 Friday, June 7, 2013<\/li>\n<li>Able to participate in one of two pre-workshop webinars. These will be scheduled in April and May of 2013 <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants should be able to show interest in using scientific data to help citizens and decision-makers better understand the interaction of local and regional issues and the complexity of environmental decision-making.<\/p>\n<p> This workshop is a enhancement of a <a href=\"https:\/\/esa.org\/fed\/pastworkshops\/2010studentworkshop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2010 workshop organized by ESA<\/a>.
