The Henry L. Gholz SEEDS Field Trip Endowment
Established December 2017
Funds from the Henry L. Gholz Endowment will provide support for SEEDS national Field Trips for students from diverse backgrounds and interests to explore the science of ecology. Students will visit a Long-term Ecological Research Site (LTER), Biological Field Station or similar active field site honoring Henry’s long-standing role in the National Science Foundation LTER program, and in exposing young scientists to field research. The trips will offer students the opportunity to interact with scientists and professional ecologists in a field and laboratory setting. The funds will support the field trips as a whole, with students being selected through the usual application and review process. Most participants will be undergraduates, but graduate mentors may also be included.
The fund is to be established as an endowment in perpetuity and the principal invested by ESA accordingly. Only income earned from the principal will be used and additional contributions may be added to grow the endowment.
All promotional information online and in print about the SEEDS national field trips will be named: The Henry L. Gholz SEEDS Field Trip.
