Description: The Urban Water Innovation Network (UWIN) gives 10 students the opportunity to perform cutting edge research of immediate relevance to people in urban areas at institutions across the nation. During 9 weeks, students conduct independent research projects under the guidance of mentor scientists. To complement their mentored research, students interact in person and/or virtually, give and receive feedback and support, and participate in a rich assortment of enrichment activities, workshops and seminars in transdisciplinary research and urban water sustainability. Students with different research interests in urban water sustainability – social sciences, natural sciences, engineering – are invited to apply. Students must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or its possessions. Underrepresented minorities and first generation college students are encouraged to apply. Students in the 2019 program will receive a stipend of $4,500 plus room and board on-campus or in nearby housing. Students also will receive a travel allowance towards travel expenses associated with participating in the program, including travel to and from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, for the kick off and wrap up meetings, and travel to their research site.

Eligibility and Requirements: Students need to be a US citizen or permanent residence and must be enrolled as an undergraduate during the summer of 2019.

Summer Stipend: $500.00/week; $4,500.00 total. Students will receive up to $400.00 to help defray the cost of food.
