The scope of the award is broad, spanning any ecological system, process, and spatio-temporal scale. It encompasses research, both basic and applied, that generates predictions or projections, or which advances forecasting methods, tools, theories, or concepts.<\/p>\n<p>We are currently fundraising to support this award in perpetuity.\u00a0 Please visit\u00a0our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/esa-ecological-forecasting-award\">fundraising page<\/a>\u00a0to make a (tax deductible) donation to the award.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong><em>Eligibility and how to apply<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Nominations are open to all career stages, and self nominations are permitted, but in all cases the lead author must be a member of the Ecological Society of America. Eligible papers must be peer-reviewed with a publication date on or after January 1 three years prior to the current deadline (e.g. papers for the March 2019 deadline need to have been published after Jan. 1, 2016). Papers in press will also be considered but must be publicly available (e.g., online early). Please note the date of acceptance and date the paper became available publicly in the cover letter for papers in press. Nominations should include a PDF copy of the paper and a brief (&lt; 1 page) cover letter highlighting the paper\u2019s contribution to, and impact on, ecological forecasting. Materials should be sent to the Award\u2019s Committee Chair, Mike Dietze (dietze@bu.edu), in an email with subject heading \u201cEcological Forecasting Award\u201d. The annual\u00a0deadline for the nominations will be March 1.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong><em>Award details<\/em><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The award winner will receive a prize of $200 and recognition on the ESA Stats Ecology website.
