Lucas Sabalka
Lucas Sabalka is an applied mathematician at a technology company in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. He has been giving presentations on climate change to faith groups and other groups for over a year.
Dr. Sabalka grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and spent his first two decades there. In 2002 he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with majors in mathematics, computer science, and history, and minors in physics and psychology. He received his Ph.D. in mathematics in 2006 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He then held postdoctoral appointments in mathematics at the University of California-Davis and at Binghamton University. He held a professorship at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri before returning to his home state in 2013.
While at Binghamton University, Dr. Sabalka had the opportunity to work on next-generation, thin-film solar cells. He is excited about the prospects of solar and the other alternative energy technologies for helping us address the climate crisis.
Dr. Sabalka has been passionate about the environment all his life. Of all of the issues currently facing America, he believes that climate change is the most important challenge we face.
Dr. Sabalka’s presentations focus on the issues affecting the Midwest, including drought, water supply, severe weather, crop damage, and floods. His presentations show why addressing climate change is so urgent.
Dr. Sabalka’s presentations also focus on proven solutions to address climate change and what individuals, organizations, and governments can do to act. He believes we have all of the tools needed to address climate change already developed.
