Help Us Beat This Fundraising Challenge to Support Diverse Students in Ecology

President Osvaldo Sala Accepts the Challenge

The reality is clear. The next generation of scientists and leaders involved in decisions being made about our land, air, water, energy and communities must be as diverse as the communities we live in. Recent events have forced all of us to confront where we stand and assess what we are doing to build and support diversity, equity, inclusion and justice.

Osvaldo Sala. Former president, Ecological Society of America.

This is why I am excited to respond to the SEEDS Challenge Campaign in support of the Henry L. Gholz National Field Trip Endowment. An ESA member has pledged $5,000 if we can raise the same amount by August 31, 2020.

The SEEDS — Strategies for Ecology Education, Diversity and Sustainability — program, established more than two decades ago, is ESA’s flagship education and mentoring program.  It was launched by extraordinary visionary leadership within ESA and has enabled hundreds of underrepresented students in our field to learn and develop as ecologists.

Today, I ask you to join me by adding a donation that will ensure that the SEEDS program continues to thrive and grow in the future.

Osvaldo Sala

President (2019-2020)
Ecological Society of America
