Fall 2020 Online Strategies for Success Course

We look forward to welcoming all of you on our first online Strategies for Success course! This page will help you prepare and set-up everything you need to attend and participate fully. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at sbi@esa.org

Course Dates:

We officially begin on Monday, September 28th! The course lasts for 6 weeks. You should anticipate spending around 5 hours per week attending live sessions, participating in asynchronous online discussions, and completing work/watching pre-recorded lectures on your own.

How to Prepare:

First of all, please review the advance preparation page and Zoom tips for live sessions prior to the course. This will help ensure you have adequate time to arrange your technology set-up and prepare your mini-pitch for Week 1.

What to Expect:

Plan to attend the live sessions: These will occur every Monday and Thursday from 3:00 pm – 4:15 pm Eastern Time for the duration of the course. The live sessions will be highly interactive – most of them will incorporate time for group discussions, involve breakout groups, and in some cases involve group work that relates to a specific topic, skill, or tool.

Plan to do pre-work before the live sessions: We will post resources that relate to the live sessions at least one week in advance. If possible, please review these resources prior to attending the live session.

Share, give feedback, and receive feedback: There will be opportunities throughout the course to share work or present something to other participants, and receive feedback. We’ll discuss this during Week 1! This is a great opportunity to practice new skills and improve in a safe space.

This is an unprecedented time and we are all learning how to do things in new ways and coping with new challenges. We hope this training will be engaging, build your network, and help you come away with tangible skills and steps you can take to continue leading your projects and programs with confidence.

Course Plan:

The course will begin on Monday, September 28th and last for 6 weeks. There will be two 75-minute live sessions each week beginning at 3:00 pm Eastern Time on Mondays and Thursdays. Participants should expect to spend an additional 2-3 hours per week on course work and group assignments.
