Plenaries
A core component of each annual meeting is the list the guest speakers who present in a plenary format when other events are not scheduled.
Publishing Events
We encourage you to bring your questions to our events or to the staff at the ESA booth in the exhibit hall.
Social Events
Social Events include mixers and business meetings for ESA’s committees, sections, and chapters as well as social functions organized by other groups. Some social events may be held at outside venues.
Awards
ESA issues Awards to outstanding contributors to ecology in certain categories. Learn about our awards at our primary awards page.
Special Sessions
From Contributed Oral Sessions to Organized Oral Sessions to Inspire Sessions, our array of presentation types is sure to include your flavor.
Short Courses
These offer participants an opportunity to learn new skills through interactive instruction and hands-on training in a long (3 or 6 hour) format (requires advance registration and an additional fee).
Press Office & The Newsroom
Media relations efforts include proactive press outreach and the operation of an on-site press room that supports journalists covering the meeting, facilitates interviews with attendees, and amplifies the visibility and impact of presented research.
Member Services
Member services at the Annual Meeting focus on connecting with ecologists—from students to emeritus professionals—to support sound science and foster important developments in the field.
Workshops
Workshops are completely free to attend and might take up just a couple hours of your time. Short courses do require a registration fee but can help you grow significantly as a scientist and professional.
Student Volunteers
Are you willing to volunteer for various tasks during the meeting in exchange for a refund on your registration? Current students may be eligible.
Diversity in Ecological Education
Poster Sessions
Contributed Poster Sessions consist of individually submitted abstracts that have been sorted into thematic sessions based on topics ranked by each speaker during abstract submission. Poster sessions are 90 minutes long to provide an opportunity for extended discussion.
Field Trips
Field trips are one of the keystones of the Annual Meeting experience, and they’re a great way to see the local community and regional ecologies. Field trips sell out fast. If you really want to attend one be sure to sign up early.
