Past Events
On April 13, 2026, our section hosted its first webinar, featuring Dr. Bethany Bradley, Co-Director of the Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center and Professor of Biogeography and Spatial Ecology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Drawing on a case study of invasive species, Dr. Bradley spoke about how climate adaptation science can support land and water managers facing climate change, what practitioners are doing on the ground, and how researchers can meaningfully engage with stakeholders and rights-holders. The talk was geared especially toward graduate students and postdocs, and addressed something many of us think about: what we can do beyond our own research to support climate adaptation and conservation. We thank Dr. Bradley for kicking off our webinar series, and everyone who joined the conversation.

Section Kickoff Meeting
On December 11, 2025, the section held its kickoff meeting, bringing together 35 researchers and practitioners from across the U.S. to launch the Climate Adaptation Section. In breakout discussions, participants shared why this section matters, what unites us as members, and what values should guide our work. The meeting laid the foundation for the section’s vision and plans for 2026.
