About
Welcome to the Women in (Soil) Ecology Section
The Ecological Society of America welcomes all ecologists, supporters and enthusiasts as members, as do our many sections and chapters. There are no restrictions on membership nor participation in our programs.
The Women in (Soil) Ecology (WiSE) came to ESA in 2024 to ensure the long-term sustainability of our network of women scientists. The network initially connected women from academic, government, and non-profit professional roles. By linking into ESA, we know that our network will have the longevity and support required to continue the work that we do. Our network aims to further the fight for equity for all those identifying as women in science. Our role is to spark and strengthen connections among senior and junior ecologists through meetups, workshops, and peer-to-peer mentorship.
Why is (Soil) in our name? Many early WiSE leaders were from soil ecology backgrounds, but the WiSE network has grown to include a wide range of ecology disciplines, expanding far beyond our soil ecology roots.
