2025 ESA Council Dues Model Feedback
At the February 2025 ESA Council meeting, representatives reviewed several scenarios for changes to ESA’s dues structure to support additional dues-based funding to the sections and chapters. An ad hoc task force* was formed to further explore scenarios and recommend a plan.
The draft plan calls for a one-time $2 increase in base dues in addition to the annual 2% for the 2026 membership year, with students exempt. This would mean that section and chapters would receive $7 per regular member, rather than $5. Please read the full memo emailed by Council Speaker Diogo Provete.
All representatives on the Council are encouraged to share their thoughts on this plan prior to our proposing to the ESA Governing Board in May. Please respond by April 18.
* Members of the task force included Rachel Bowes, Aquatic Ecology Section, Council Speaker-elect; Coral del Mar Valle Rodriguez, Latin America and the Caribbean Chapter; Jess Hartshorn, Invasion Ecology Section; and Natalia Lopez Figueroa, Coastal and Marine Ecology Section.
