Candidate for: Member of the Board of Professional Certification

Angela Sondenaa is Professional V – Precious Lands Project Leader for the Nez Perce Tribe in Lapwai, Idaho, and a Certified Senior Ecologist. Her professional background is in wildlife science (BS, Oregon State University) and Botany (PhD, University of Idaho). She began her career in 1990 as a wildlife biologist with the US Forest Service and later acted as director of the Stillinger Herbarium at the University of Idaho for three years during her graduate program. She joined the Nez Perce Tribe as a project biologist while finishing her PhD and has served with them in various scientific roles of increasing responsibility since. Angela’s work has been funded by $6.5 million in grants and includes reports on field research made to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Northwest Power and Conservation Council, and the Administration for Native Americans.  She is also an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians.
