On March 16, a shooting rampage in Atlanta led to the shocking killing of six Asian women. Although the attacks were unrelated to science, it has heightened unease in the Asian community. ESA invites Asian students and scientists and anyone working with colleagues or students of Asian descent as well as Pacific Islanders to join this special listening session. This is a safe space where those impacted may feel free to share experiences or concerns or ways to support our Asian community. This listening session will not be recorded.
Hosts:
Lin Jiang, Professor, Biological Sciences, Georgia Institute of Technology, Chair, ESA Asian Ecology Section
Qianna Xu, PhD. candidate, Georgia Institute of Technology, Student Section Liaison, ESA Asian Ecology Section
Teresa Mourad, Director of Education and Diversity Programs, Ecological Society of America
