Who’s It For?
While any company or organization can apply for membership, we envision that organizational membership will best extend to:
- Private sector companies that engage in ecological restoration, environmental engineering, industrial ecology, landscape architecture and urban planning, and environmental, social and governance consulting
- Nonprofits/NGOs in environmental/sustainability/conservation/biodiversity that employ ecologists as staff scientists or in administrative roles
- Regulatory and research-oriented agencies, or subagencies, of state and federal-level governments, or substantially large municipalities
- Individual departments, or undergraduate, graduate or professional programs at universities
By engaging with ESA in this way, your leadership will have a seat at the table as we engage in important discussions around scientific professional development and best practices in the applications of ecological science, and you’ll increase the number of members who represent your field.
Conditions of Membership
Like all ESA members, organizational members will be expected to adhere to the ESA Code of Ethics; individual members supported by the organization must also abide by the ESA Code of Conduct. We additionally expect that our organizational members be engaged, through their primary business functions, in work that is environmentally friendly, respects and ethically engages with local communities, and follows best practices and regulations established by federal, state, municipal and international bodies.
We will only accept organizational members whose work is consistent with ESA’s mission and values. The potential member’s reputation, policies and practices must not present a material risk to ESA’s reputation or our ability to achieve our strategic objectives.Â
