It is important that all ecologists be able to participate in ESA’s programming, including the Annual Meeting. Financial constraints should not prevent an ecologist from being able to participate.
We annually provide registration and dependent care grants to ecologists facing barriers to attend. ESA’s sections and chapters likewise provide funding opportunities, which will be listed below. Other programs of the Society’s — like SEEDS — offer support as well.
Section & Chapter Funding
Many of ESA’s sections and chapters offer funding for Annual Meeting participation. This is often in the form of direct registration support, travel stipends and presentation awards. Each group’s opportunities and requirements are different; we will list available opportunities here and update as more are shared with us.
- The Biogeosciences Section offers three separate awards, including student travel grants of up to $500. Criteria and application here. Applications are due June 21.
ESA Registration & Dependent Care Grants
The deadline to apply for these grants has passed.
We anticipate being able to provide approximately $25,000 in registration grants and $10,000 in dependent care. ESA members are eligible for these funds.
Registration grants will directly cover the price of early-bird registration. They will be administered via coupon code; there will be no direct payment provided.
All members are eligible to apply, but the ESA Council wishes to prioritize support for mid-career researchers at less-resourced institutions, and contingent and adjunct faculty generally. They will otherwise prioritize professionals (of all career sectors), then students.
Students are encouraged to seek support from the sections and chapters, as listed above, and to volunteer.
Dependent care grants of up to $500 will be provided as reimbursement for care services that the recipient would only need to facilitate their attendance at the meeting.
This form is currently closed for submissions.
