Notes for International Travelers
Stay Informed: Regularly check official U.S. government websites, such as the Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security, for the most current travel advisories and entry requirements.
Be Prepared: If you encounter ICE or other law enforcement while traveling, this factsheet explains how to assert and protect your rights.
Visa Information
Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa — either a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay or an immigrant visa for permanent residence.
International attendees to ESA meetings will typically need a Business (B-1) Visa to enter the US. Learn more about B-1 visas.
Apply Early: The visa application process to enter the United States has become subject to greater degrees of scrutiny than in the past. You will need to apply for your visa as early as possible, but no later than three months before you wish to enter the United States.
The U.S. State Department details steps and documentation needed for visa application.
A paid registration is required for a VISA letter.
Please note, ESA cannot and will not intervene on behalf of an attendee with any embassy, the U.S. Consulate or other government institutions.
