We are glad to once again provide financial support to our members who face barriers to attendance at the Annual Meeting. While we have closed grant applications for funding directly from ESA, some of our sections and chapters have active applications.
If you apply for funding of any type, DO NOT REGISTER until you have received a notification of your application’s status.
Students are also encouraged to volunteer. Applications are open through the end of early-bird registration, but register and apply to volunteer as early as possible, since approvals and assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
From Other Organizations
The National Ecological Observatory Network is offering a Best NEON Presentation Award of up to $1,000 to oral presentations at the meeting that use NEON data, samples and/or infrastructure in their research. Learn more and apply. The priority application deadline is July 15.
ESA Section and Chapter Funding Opportunities
This list is regularly updated by staff as information is provided by ESA’s section and chapter leadership. Please direct any questions respective to these opportunities to the appropriate contact. Staff cannot provide assistance with section or chapter funding opportunities.
- The Invasion Ecology Section offers the Simberloff Award for an outstanding oral student presentation at the Annual Meeting, awarded after the presentation is made. Learn more. Applications are due July 15, but presentations must be uploaded by August 15.
- The Urban Ecosystems Ecology Section offers the Joan Ehrenfeld Award for excellent oral presentations in the field of urban ecology at the Annual Meeting. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. Learn more and apply. Forms must be submitted by August 1.
Registration Grants
We are again providing registration grants to ESA members who lack financial resources and/or employer support to attend the meeting. Only ESA members at the time of application will be considered. Priority consideration is being given to ecologists who lost their positions or funding due to federal cuts, or to federal scientists who otherwise might not be able to attend.
Thank you to all who applied — these applications are closed but please see the many opportunities listed above.
Dependent Care Grants
ESA members whose normal caretaking responsibilities would preclude their participation are encouraged to apply for a grant of up to $500. This care can be for any dependent or loved one. Funds will be disbursed as a reimbursement. The grants are intended to support those who do not ordinarily have resources to pay for care.
Thank you to all who applied — these applications are closed but please see the many opportunities listed above.
