New analysis reveals recovery of Bonelli’s eagle, a threatened species, in Western Europe

Knowing how wildlife populations change is crucial to improving biodiversity management and conservation. The complexity of fieldwork—logistics, capture and marking of individuals, recapture, etc.—and the lack of long-term monitoring make it difficult to make projections about the future of species under study, especially if they are threatened. Now, methods for determining how species demographic patterns vary in the wild take a step forward with an effective and flexible protocol developed by the Conservation Biology Team of the University of Barcelona’s Faculty of Biology and the Biodiversity Research Institute (IRBio).
