Field margins play a beneficial role in providing food for pollinating insects, combating soil erosion, and conserving relatively rare plant species in the agricultural landscape. However, these benefits can be offset by the proliferation of weeds, which can compete with cultivated plants. This benefit-risk balance depends in particular on the agricultural practices implemented near the fields. This is what research conducted by scientists from ANSES, INRAE, and the Solagro association, recently published in the journal Ecological Applications, has shown.
