This sub-theme focused on the application of ecological knowledge to solve contemporary environmental challenges. Submissions may address conservation planning, restoration ecology, biodiversity monitoring, ecosystem management, climate adaptation, sustainable resource use, nature-based solutions, ecosystem services, and approaches that support resilience in socioecological systems.
- Human dimensions, governance, and science policy
Exploring the relationships between ecological systems, human societies, and decision-making.
This sub-theme examines how ecological knowledge interacts with governance, policy, and society. Relevant topics include environmental justice, Indigenous and local knowledge, social-ecological systems, ecological economics, sustainability transitions, environmental diplomacy, science communication, knowledge co-production, and the development of policies and institutions that support equitable and effective environmental stewardship.
- Innovation, Data Science, and Emergent Technologies
Harnessing emergent tools and technologies to advance ecological research and practice.
This sub-theme highlights methodological and technological innovations that are transforming ecology. Topics may include artificial intelligence, machine learning, remote sensing, environmental informatics, ecological forecasting, computational ecology, eDNA, sensor networks, citizen science technologies, open science infrastructure, biodiversity databases, and novel analytical methods that improve our ability to understand and manage ecological systems.

This sub-theme focuses on preparing and supporting current and future generations of ecologists. Contributions may address teaching innovations, curriculum development, experiential learning, graduate and undergraduate education, mentoring practices, inclusive training environments, professional development, leadership, career pathways, science communication skills, and strategies for fostering a diverse and resilient ecological community.
