Applying 4DEE in the Classroom: From Framework to Classroom: Integrating 4DEE into an Ornithology Course

How can the Four-Dimensional Ecology Education (4DEE) Framework move from a set of ideas to something students actually experience in the classroom? For the water cooler chat, Jack will share how he used 4DEE to redesign and align an undergraduate ornithology course at Kansas State University. Using his published QUBES resource as an example, he will discuss practical ways to connect ecological concepts, practices, human–environment interactions, and cross-cutting themes across a course, as well as lessons learned from implementing 4DEE in an organismal biology setting. The session will also invite discussion about how these approaches can be adapted to other ecology and biology courses.
