President Laura Huenneke pledged to make the 2019 ESA+USSEE Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky, more accessible for those facing barriers to attend, and announced that up to $30,000 donated to the Opportunity Fund in 2018-19 would be directed to provide travel assistance. These donations will provide travel grants to those lacking institutional or grant support and to those who will bring diverse personal perspectives to the meeting theme of “Inclusion: an ecological imperative.”
There is still time to help us reach the goal of raising $30,000 for fund travel awards by contributing to the Opportunity Fund today! |
Applicants for travel awards must meet these requirements:
- Be an ESA member
- Have submitted an abstract, or is participating in a workshop, organized oral session or Inspire session, or is involved in other Society business
Travel awards will be given on a first-come, first-served basis until available funds are depleted, so please complete the following form as soon as possible. We anticipate that those who apply will have exhausted all other financial means to attend the meeting. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning on March 15.
We have reached the anticipated cap on available funds and will no longer be accepting applications. Please contact jon@esa.org if you have any questions.
It is expected that funds awarded will be used to fund this travel, and that documentation will be provided to ESA upon request. Any unspent funds will be returned to ESA. Please note that members are not eligible to receive more than one ESA travel award (from this fund, student awards, section, etc.).
